Easy Date Loaf

1 1/2 cups chopped pitted dates
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons margarine
1 cup water
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup self raising wholemeal flour
1/2 cup self raising white flour

Place dates, sugar, margarine, water in saucepan. Bring to boil, reduce heat, simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and cool.

Add the egg, mix well. Stir through sifted flour, place in lightly greased 14 cm x 21cm loaf tin. Bake in moderate oven, 180°C, for 50 minutes.
