Cheesy Pasta Shells and Sweetcorn

Age: 10 months +

1 and 1/2 cups

1/2 cup small macaroni or other small pasta shapes
1/4 cup finely chopped broccoli or small frozen peas (optional)
1/2 cup basic white sauce
1/2 cup creamed corn

Boil the pasta shapes until tender in about 3 cups of boiling water, stirring occasionally. Meanwhile thaw the cheese sauce in the microwave on Full Power for 45-60 seconds.

When the pasta is nearly ready add the finely chopped broccoli or the frozen peas and cook until the vegetables are tender.

Drain the pasta (and vegetables), add the thawed cheese sauce and the corn and heat until the mixture is bubbling, stirring regularly. Serve warm.

Basic White Sauce

Age: 10 months +

1/2 cup

30g butter
1 Tbsp plain flour
1 cup milk (preferably heated slightly)
salt and pepper, to taste

1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan and add the flour. Cook, stirring for 1 minute until the mixture is golden.
2. Remove from the heat and gradually whisk in the milk, stirring until completely smooth.
3. Return to the heat and stir until the mixture boils and thickens. Season to taste and use as required.

For a Cheese sauce: Simply stir in 1/3 cup grated tasty cheese at the end of Step 2 of the White Sauce recipe above.
