Chocolate Fudge Brownies

Chocolate Fudge Brownies

225g/8oz/ butter or margarine
175g/6oz granulated sugar
350g/12oz self-raising flour
30ml/2tbsp cocoa (unsweetened chocolate) powder

175g/6og icing sugar
30ml/2tbsp cocoa powder
Boiling water

Preheat oven to 180C/ 350F/ Gas mark 4. Melt the butter or margarine, the stir in the granulated sugar. Stir in the flour and cocoa powder. Press into a lined 18 x 28cm/ 7 x 11in baking tin and bake for about 20 minutes un til springy to touch.

To make the icing: Sift the icing sugar and cocoa powder into a bowl and add a drop of boiling water. Stir until well blended, adding a drop or so more water if necessary. Ice the brownies while still warm (but not hot), then leave to cool before cutting in to squares.
