Braised Steak and Onions
500 g quality Steak – cubed
1 extra large onion – sliced
1 packet French onion Soup mix – Savings brand
Cracked Pepper to taste
5 cups water
In large saucepan or crock-pot, Add meat, onion, soup mix, pepper and water. Mix ingredients well. Put onto simmer for approx 3 – 4 hours. Meat should be tender. Add water if needed.
After 3 â€“ 4 hours. Mix 4 teaspoons gravy to a paste.
Add to Meat/Water mixing whilst adding. Mix well.
Add 2 Tbsp (good squirt) tomato sauce and 1 1/2 Tbsp (good squirt) Worcestershire sauce. Mix well.
Turn temperature up until boiling. Stirring gently to reduce liquid.
Stir regularly until liquid has reduced and gravy has thickened.
Serve with Mash Potatoes and Vegetables.
