Golden Syrup Dumplings

Serves: 4

2 Tablespoons golden syrup
2 cups water
250g butter
2 cups self-raising flour
2 teaspoons sugar
pinch of salt

1. Put golden syrup, 50g of butter and water into a saucepan and bring to the boil.
2. Take flour, salt, sugar and remaining butter and mix into a stiff dough.
3. Mould into small balls.
4. Drop the balls into the syrup, cover and simmer gently for about 20 minutes.
